Hunterdon County YMCA members have rallied to support the hungry in the community. In July and August, more than 100 members of the Y and their friends volunteered at America’s Grow-a-Row, a local non-profit organization that provides free, fresh produce to those in need throughout New Jersey.

This effort is a part of the Y’s new Togetherhood program that encourages Y members to give back and support their neighbors through community service projects.

“Togetherhood is a great opportunity for Y members to activate social responsibility and give back to organizations that need our help,” said Bill Taylor, Chair of the Togetherhood Committee. “Collectively, our Y members harvested over 10,000 pounds of corn and 130 pounds of string beans! This is a huge impact for those who are in need of healthy food options in New Jersey.”

Y members and friends are invited to participate in another Day of Service at America’s Grow-a-Row on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9-11 a.m. To get involved,hcymca.org/events. To learn more about America’s Grow-a-Row visit americasgrowarow.org.
