America’s Grow-a-Row is excited to offer a range of virtual education experiences! Let us bring the farm to you! Our programming team offers education for children and adults. We love to share what we do, and why we do it with community organizations, schools, and afterschool programs. Choose from a variety of lessons including:
Grow and Know
Pre-K – 5th Grade
Children learn all about America’s Grow-a-Row, what we do, and why we do it. They will learn about our mission, take a virtual farm tour, and learn about all of the different fruits and vegetables we grow. There is plenty of time for questions and conversation. 6th – 12th Grade
Older students learn about America’s Grow-a-Row’s mission and history. Educators discuss the impact of food insecurity on our friends and neighbors. The presentation includes a virtual farm tour, a discussion of how our programs aim to combat food insecurity, and how vital our community partnerships are to our organization’s success. Farm to Fork Lessons for Kids
Let Carla and Chef Shauna guide you through a series of lessons designed to get kids excited about fruits and vegetables! Lessons change each season, but past topics include: Lettuce Build a Super Salad and Roots and Shoots – What part of the plant am I eating? All lessons offer facts about agriculture and nutrition and work to introduce the students to culinary skills. In each lesson, Chef Shauna will demonstrate a recipe or culinary technique that children and families can easily replicate at home. Farm to Fork Lessons for Adults
Join Chef Shauna virtually in our Farm to Fork Kitchen. Shauna will provide a presentation about America’s Grow-a-Row’s mission and history and lead the group through a culinary nutrition lesson. Lessons include nutrition information, practical tips for grocery shopping, storing vegetables, and cooking. Lessons include a culinary demo and lots of time for questions and discussion.
