A Letter from Chip – Thoughts on Thanksgiving

November 2018

Dear Friends,

If you have been receiving our newsletter over the years, by now you know that Thanksgiving is without question one of my favorite holidays and one of my favorite times of year. It’s the one day when we as a nation reflect on how thankful we are for the many blessings, both great and small, in our lives. It’s an opportunity to slow down a bit to take time to think about what really matters most, such as our families, friends, and the many things we all too often take for granted.

And though during this holiday season the thought of families and individuals struggling to put food on their tables weighs heavily on my heart, what encourages me most is that this year more than 8,400 selfless people of all ages came together to harvest and distribute 1.5 million pounds of produce for their neighbors in need. Countless contributions in all forms helped us provide not just food but hope for those folks who needed it the most this year. What really hits home is when the recipients of the produce are so moved and so grateful knowing that that you, our volunteers and supporters, consistently give and share so much of yourselves each year to help them as they struggle to make ends meet.

Once again, this Thanksgiving the list in my heart of what I’m most grateful for will include a special place for all of you in addition to my faith, family, and friends. May God continue to bless you, your families, and those we serve.

On behalf of the entire America’s Grow-a-Row team, have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and we’ll see you in the fields next year!

Hopefully you will partner with some of the northern New Jersey farms in ’19.

Hi Pamela, Thank you so much for reaching out! We work with two more northern NJ Farms in Hope and Chester, NJ that allow us to glean apples from their orchards. Our current headquarters are in Hunderdon County, NJ where we operate 3 farms. Feel free to reach out to me directly at julie@americasgrowarow.org for more information!
