After volunteering with America’s Grow-a-Row in August 2009, Leena Waite joined the staff, first as an intern in September 2010 and then as an employee in May 2011. She was grateful to find a position that suited her passion for issues around food justice and hunger. Her previous positions include Healthy Choices Coordinator at Morristown’s Community Soup Kitchen and Outreach Center, Director of Children’s Ministries at the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township, Teaching Artist at the Philadelphia Orchestra’s Education and Community Partnership Program, and violinist in the Syracuse Symphony. This eclectic background stems from degrees in ministry (Master of Arts in Ministry from Drew University’s Theological School) and music (Masters in Music from the University of Michigan and Bachelor of Arts from Carnegie Mellon University – both for violin performance in classical and improvisation). Leena continues to teach and perform in the New Jersey/New York area and enjoys yoga, skiing, walking, and cooking. She lives in Morristown with her husband Adam Waite, and they are anxiously waiting for their first child to arrive during the middle of Spring!
