After volunteering as an intern at America’s Grow-a-Row during the summer of 2015, Julie joined our staff in January 2016 as a Volunteer Programming Specialist. Julie became our Director of Programming in August 2016, and she brings a passion for our mission, a drive to work hard, and creativity in supporting our programs to this role. Her responsibilities include helping to provide an unparalleled volunteer experience, further developing our educational programs, coordinating our Free Farm Markets, and recruiting volunteers and interns.
Julie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pittsburgh with a double major in Political Science and Sociology and graduated a semester early to join our team. Her interest in helping others started at a young age when she volunteered at various organizations with her Girl Scout troop. In high school she frequently volunteered with the National Honor Society, and she was a board member of the University of Pittsburgh chapter of FeelGood, an organization with the goal of putting an end to global hunger and poverty. Julie enjoys cooking, hiking, reading, and playing with dogs. Her favorite vegetable is Brussels sprouts.
