Pittstown Trail Association helps clear America’s Grow-a-Row farms

Hunterdon Review, April 8, 2016

Members of the Pittstown Trail Association on Saturday, March 26, volunteered at America’s Grow-a-Row farms by weed whacking the deer fence and helping to maintain the farm’s beauty.

The Pittstown Trail Association is an equestrian trail riding organization that was founded in 2002, whose trail system includes the America’s Grow-a-Row farms in Pittstown and Milford.

America’s Grow-a-Row (AGAR) is a nonprofit organization that grows and gleans fresh, healthy fruits and vegetables that are donated to those facing hunger throughout the state of New Jersey. AGAR’s mission is to positively impact as many lives as possible through a volunteer effort of planting, picking, rescuing, and delivering free fresh produce.

AGAR provides fresh produce to those in need, educates people of all generations about hunger and ways to help, introduces the youth to farming and healthy eating, cultivates in tomorrow’s leaders the habit of giving back, and contributes to the sustainability of agriculture.

AGAR’s 2016 goals are to donate 1.2 million pounds of farm-fresh food to various hunger relief agencies in New Jersey while at the same time educating people of all ages about hunger, the importance of agriculture, and healthy eating.
